Enjoy a relaxing afternoon in the lush summer countryside where tasty samples of farm products and fun, family-oriented activities await you. Each location offers something fresh from the fields-fruits, vegetables, flowers, herbs, plants, honey and more. Spend the afternoon exploring "in your backyard" where your family can take a hayride, pet farm animals, learn about Midwest farm life and take home a souvenir of your visit.
The In Your Backyard Farm Tour consists of 5 different locations for you and your family to visit. All farms will be open Saturday July 31st, 2010 from 1pm-6pm. Visit all the farms or just the ones that interest you- they all offer a wonderful educational experience and a great family day outing in beautiful central Indiana.
No pets are allowed expect service animals for persons with disabilities.
This event will take place rain or shine, however, if it rains some events and activities scheduled at the farms may be delayed or cancelled.
Ticket Information:
Tickets are $10 a car for the In Your Backyard Farm Tour. Tickets may be purchased prior to the event or the day of at all farm locations.
Tickets may also be purchased during the month of July at the Avon, Brownsburg, Danville & Plainfield Chamber of Commerce offices during normal business hours. They can also be purchased at the Hendricks County Purdue Extension Office as well as the Hendricks County Visitors Bureau. Cash only please.

1. Beasley's Orchard and Gardens

Visit Beasley's and step back in time on a historical Hendricks County Family farm. Stoll through their orchards and gardens. Don't forget to try one of their delicious samples or even purchase some of their great produce and homemade goods.
2. Hobbit Farms and Gardens

Hobbit Farms is a working farm with 2 acers of gardens to wander through. Their farm spotlights fresh cut and/or dried herbs and flowers from the garden. Make sure and stop by the store on their grounds where you can purchase: natural teas, tinctures, skin care products, massage and body oils, wreaths, swags and arches.
3. Lazy A Ranch

Head out to this fun farm in Plainfield and tour their beautiful gardens and make sure to visit the animals. Lazy A Ranch is a small family farm located just west of Plainfield, offering fresh vegetables in season, honey, free range eggs and grass fed freezer beef produced without antibiotics or hormones. Observing sustainable practices, Lazy A Ranch strives to provide customers with fresh, quality products. Their motto: "We grow what we sell". Make sure to bring the kids along to visit with the farm animals. Don't leave without sampling and purchasing some of their wonderful products.
4. Main Street Bistro

Main Street Bistro is a new destination in Hendricks County serving up local, organic food. Stop by and relax in the cool air, take time to sample the creations of executive chef Bill Atkins. He has a gift of turning wonderful local ingredients into the most mouth-watering fare you will ever encounter.
While at Main Street Bistro make sure and visit with the farmers of Seldom Seen Farm. They will be onsite with information about their farm with samples and items to be purchased. Seldom seen is a small scale, family run farm east of Danville, Indiana. they grow all manner of vegetables, flowers, and herbs on 50 acres of crosby and brookston clay loam. The farm is run by Kelly Funk and John Ferree.
5. Stamper Farm & Gardens

Stamper Farms is looking forward to a bountiful harvest in 2010 with a number of gardens planted. Stamper farms is a family owned farm offering a variety of chemical free vegetables, strawberries and blueberries in season. U-pick is available on some vegetables and children may also dig their own potatoes. Visit the farm and tour 3 hoophouses with an assortment of organic berries and veggies, and their four Community Garden plots. Take a short hay ride around the gardens and down in the pastures to see "My Hunny's" bee hives. Make sure and visit The Bread Basket booth on location to sample and purchase delicious treats made with Stamper Gardens Produce.
